FEB UNISMA's Response to the Policy on Easing the Use of Masks

As announced by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the policy of easing the use of masks was viewed differently by various parties. Likewise, the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University is currently implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education activities in a hybrid manner; both carried out by lecturers and students. Through the FEB UNISMA Talk program, held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, the Dean of FEB UNISMA, Nur Diana SE, MSi, and the Deputy Dean III, Khalikussabir SE, MM, answered various concerns that arose among FEB UNISMA students.

With Host Erfan Effendi SPD, MPD, Mrs. Nur Diana said that the policy of easing the opening of masks in the open as announced directly by President Jokowi is a positive signal to be able to carry out activities more openly for lecturers and students so that they can carry out the Tridharma of Higher Education. Campus, he said, should be open for students to return to their activities.

According to Diana, this policy is supported by the current condition of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, which is considered increasingly under control. The low risk of Covid-19 transmission in Indonesia can be seen from the decline in new Covid-19 cases, the positivity rate below three percent, and active cases that continue to increase. In addition, several Covid-19 referral hospitals currently rarely treat Covid-19 patients.

"Based on the monitored information, more than 70 percent of people who have been fully vaccinated have been vaccinated. The booster vaccine is also still in progress, with the number increasing from the total target. Likewise for the elderly," he said.

He further stated that the policy must be handled wisely, not excessive euphoria that makes us ignore it so that it is detrimental to our own health.

"The policy of easing the opening of masks applies to people who are in open spaces, not in crowds, as for activities in closed spaces and public transportation, as well as vulnerable groups such as the elderly, who have a history of comorbid diseases to continue to use masks.

Diana emphasized that learning activities at FEB UNISMA are still implementing the policies as proclaimed by the UNISMA Policy, which conducts online and hybrid learning.

"Some Hybrid learning activities that require direct face-to-face contact must still pay attention to health protocols. Continue to wear a mask if you feel your body has a fever; cough is advised not to enter campus," he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Religion and Publications FEB UNISMA, Khalikussabir SE, MM, emphasized that during the pandemic, the Student Development activities were hybrid.

"FEB UNISMA in carrying out student development policies still relies on central government regulations, RI Ministry of Education and Culture policies, local governments, UNISMA policies, and FEB policies," he said.

"So far, all student activities have been dynamic, while in a closed room also follow the prokes, avoid crowds and most importantly we emphasize that students must be aware of their body condition. If you have a cold, you have a fever, avoid interacting with other students."
