The resource person, Mr. Tri Prasetyo Tomo, is the Business Development Micro and Pawning Regional VIII Surabaya, PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia, Tbk.

This activity was held on a hybrid basis, attended by 25 students offline and 300 online. The hope is that with this webinar activity, especially Islamic Banking students at the Faculty of Economics and Business can take part in supporting government programs regarding MSMEs. By holding this webinar, it is hoped that it can overcome the current economic constraints in Indonesia and provide a broad understanding to the public about Islamic banking products or Islamic banking programs in Indonesia as a form of support to generate better economic quality.

This event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business I UNISMA Nur Diana, SE., MS.i. Mrs. Nur Diana said that the role of Islamic banking is very much needed to support the development of MSMEs in Indonesia. About how practitioners provide information regarding the role of Bank Syariah Indonesia. This webinar was formed for a reason: the covid pandemic for two years had an impact, especially on MSMEs. The impact of pandemics has had an impact on the economic sector, especially MSMEs. This decline certainly has an impact on the Indonesian economy.

According to a survey from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) to 195,099 MSMEs, the impact of the pandemic was 23.10 percent of MSMEs experienced a decrease in business turnover, 19.50 percent were hampered by distribution, and 19.45 percent experienced capital constraints. Likewise with the results of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) survey, which showed the same conditions, namely 30.5 percent of MSMEs in Indonesia faced a decline in domestic demand and 48.6 percent of MSMEs temporarily closed, "said Diana.

According to him, the recovery of MSMEs is a priority for the government, considering that MSMEs are one of the essential pillars in the revival of the national economy. Quoted from the website of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, MSMEs contribute 61.07 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and absorb 97 percent of the total workforce.

Diana further emphasized the role of Islamic finance as an instrument that plays a vital role in supporting economic recovery programs and reducing poverty through business/community economic empowerment. With management and transactions based on the principles of fairness and sincerity, it will be seen from a fair risk financing mechanism in sharia financing as well as the social presence of Islamic finance such as zakat, waqaf, and infaq.

Meanwhile, Prasetyo Tomo, (PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk) said that seeing the developments since the BSI pandemic is still increasing and playing a role in the economy of MSMEs by 40 in restoring the Indonesian economy in various sectors, namely the main MSME sector itself, namely in agriculture, fisheries, and agriculture. Plantation, processing industry as well as wholesale and retail trade, Provision of food and beverage accommodation, and warehousing transportation. BSI develops a business model for strengthening MSMEs through sustainable financing and empowerment of MSME Centers and Portals.

According to him, Indonesia, as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has excellent potential to develop the economy so that the Indonesian halal industry will increase in 2020.

"The value of trade in the halal industry and sharia banking is focused on developing the real sector, especially for MSMEs. The challenge faced is the market share of the Islamic financial services industry, which is still relatively small, amounting to 9.90% of the industry's assets. Islamic financial institutions must have a robust and complete infrastructure in developing business models to strengthen MSMEs. This includes sustainable financing consisting of incubators, microprograms, and commercial, micro commercial KMKE/KMKI/investment.

"Empowerment of MSME centers & portals consists of training and assistance, information and consultation, displays and market places, Co-working space, BSI MSME community, and BSI MSME campaign. Moreover, strengthening market access consists of MSME Expo, go digital training, partnerships, avails, and off-takers. BSI itself will soon launch a UMKM center in Aceh which will soon be launched shortly," he said

"There are several Good Mindset SMEs for success, including having a great vision and mission, working with a team, daring to take risks, optimizing sales, always wanting to be better, loving the business that has been built, and learning processes.
