Technological Disruption, Many Investors are No Longer Focusing on Conventional Businesses, But On These Start-Up Technology Companies

Changes in the financial world due to technological disruption occur not only in Indonesia but globally. The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Islam Malang (FEB UNISMA), is aware of this and has taken the initiative to renew financial literacy by holding an international seminar with the theme International Financial Market with Prof. Elvira Sojli from the University of New South Wales Business School Australia. The event, held on December 16, 2019, at the Postgraduate Building Lt. 7 Hall Abdurahman Wahid, was attended by hundreds of FEB students and invited academics and international students from other universities who packed into every corner of the room.

The Dean of FEB UNISMA, Nur Diana SE, MSi, appreciated the activities that involved many students, both foreign and domestic students, as well as academics who were concerned about the development of financial markets. "Hopefully, this activity provides an overview and insight into the development trend of bond market research, retail bank market, and equity market or capital market globally," she explained. Holding this activity is an essential form of FEB UNISMA's participation in developing literacy in financial science, especially international financial markets.

Meanwhile, Prof. Elvira Sojli, in her presentation, explained that the Eurobond with floating rate and fixed rate about equity was dominated by huge multinational companies, government organizations, and international organizations. "Eurobond developments in Asia often occur in the Asian Currency Market and Asian Bonds known as "dragon bound." Not only focusing on the oil and gas industry and technology companies such as Google, Amazon, and even Alibaba," she explained. Not only that but along with the emergence of many new technology companies that listed their shares on the stock market, the trend of ownership or stock investment selection has also begun to shift.
