FEB UNISMA Strengthens the Direction and Roadmap of Sharia Economic and Financial Research

The Faculty of Economics and Business Unisma Malang held a Workshop on Directions and Roadmap for Sharia Economics and Finance Research Thursday (19/8). The event, which was held offline and online, raised the theme of research and community service in economics and Islamic finance to increase the nation's competitiveness.
The participants who attended were lecturers and leaders of the Faculty of Economics and Business, the University of Islam Malang, who will directly carry out research and community service in Islamic economics and finance.

The speaker in this activity is Associate Prof. Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, MBA., the Director of Islamic Supporting Ecosystem of the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance. He has experience in research and community service on the theme of sharia economics and finance.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Islam Malang, Nur Diana, S.E., M.Sc., in his remarks, he appreciated the activities of this workshop which was part of the series of Research and Community Service Roadmap Preparation FEB UNISMA in Improving the Competitiveness of the Nation which had been realized in the fields of Management and Accounting.

"This workshop is part of a series of activities to determine the research map and community service of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Islamic University of Malang by inviting various practitioner speakers from various fields of economics and business with expert expertise in their fields, including today's activity by inviting Mr. Associate Prof. Sutan Emir Ph. .D as the Director of Islamic Supporting Ecosystem of the National Committee on Sharia Economics and Finance who certainly understands the current issues and themes that need to be studied in this case regarding sharia economy and finance," said Diana.

The workshop was continued with the presentation of material by Associate Prof. Sutan Emir Hidayat, Ph.D. Director of Islamic Supporting Ecosystem National Committee on Sharia Economics and Finance delivered material on the overview of national research on sharia economics and finance and the direction of developing the theme of sharia financial economics research according to national research priorities and needs.

The initial presentation presented an overview of national Islamic economics and finance research, on studies in the sharia banking sector and the lack of research publications in other sectors such as sharia microfinance institutions, waqf use, and halal industry development. The number of international publications produced in Indonesia is still minimal and lagging behind neighboring countries, including research in Islamic economics and finance, where the publications grew far and are still concentrated.

The following presentation is the development of the theme of Islamic economics and finance research according to national research priorities and industrial needs where the government has proclaimed in Presidential Regulation 38/2018 and 2019 Ministerial Regulations concerning the 2020-2024 research focus, which states that Islamic economy and finance can play a role in linking and match with PRN 2020-2024, for example in the food aspect, which can be related to research into the halal industry and social and social media which can be maximized by research on social funds, inclusive finance, and the digital economy.

The workshop was then closed with an online discussion session with 90 lecturers and leaders of the Faculty of Economics and Business,  University of Islam Malang.
